University Training Partners is currently developing a new, 100% online Black Belt program for launch in Fall 2015! We are proud to partner with the University of Georgia and Minitab to offer you this high quality, rigorous program.
As with the in-person program, Black Belt certification requires course work, exams and completion of a real-world Six Sigma project.
The Black Belt course material will be divided into three separate online courses, each 8 weeks in length. The first class covers Six Sigma leadership; the second, statistics for quality; and the third, advanced statistical methods. The curriculum is accredited by the Council for Six Sigma Certification, and follows the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Body of Knowledge.
All courses will be delivered via the Desire2Learn platform using instructor-generated voice-over presentations and videos, Minitab Quality Trainer tutorial videos and quizzes, discussion forum assignments, practice quizzes and weekly live online meetings with the instructor. In place of a single, final exam, students will be required to pass two exams in each course.
After students successfully complete the three course sequence, they will qualify for the capstone course, in which students complete a real-world Six Sigma project. Students will be mentored throughout their projects, and will submit tollgate reports for each of the DMAIC phases. Students must complete their projects within 12 months to earn their Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Minitab statistical software will be provided for students to perform data analysis during the capstone project course.
Candidates should have earned a Green Belt certification from an approved program, be adept at creating graphs and using formulas in Microsoft Excel and have facility in solving algebraic equations. Some undergraduate or graduate statistical coursework is helpful, but not necessary.
